3 & 4 Years Old Kindergarten
3 & 4 Years Old Kindergarten
3-Year-Old Kindergarten
Starting kindergarten is an exciting milestone in your child’s early learning journey. Our 3-year-old kindergarten program is designed to provide a nurturing and engaging environment where children develop essential skills that will support them throughout their lives.
Through play-based learning, children explore their surroundings, develop confidence, and build social and communication skills. Our program places a strong emphasis on social development and emotional regulation, preparing children for a smooth transition to 4-year-old kindergarten.
We follow the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF), which focuses on five key Learning and Development Outcomes. Throughout the year, our structured approach helps children:
- Develop a love for learning through curiosity and exploration
- Improve concentration and focus in both group and individual experiences
- Practice self-regulation with positive guidance and support
- Build strong social connections within our centre and the wider community
- Enhance early literacy and numeracy skills through exposure to books, print materials, and small group discussions
Research shows that two years of kindergarten provide greater benefits for children’s learning and development. By enrolling in our high-quality, teacher-led program, children gain the confidence, independence, and foundational skills they need for future success.
4-Year-Old Kindergarten
Our 4-year-old kindergarten program builds on the skills developed in the 3-year-old program, focusing on school readiness, emotional intelligence, and fostering a love for learning. Our qualified Early Childhood Teachers, registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), create a play-based environment that nurtures creativity, problem-solving, and resilience.
We structure the year around key learning goals:
- Term One: Establishing secure relationships and core values like respect, kindness, and honesty
- Term Two: Strengthening community connections and family involvement, fostering perseverance and courage
- Term Three: Preparing children for formal learning with a focus on curiosity and resilience
- Term Four: Implementing our school readiness program, reflecting on achievements, and celebrating learning
Enriching Experiences in 4-Year-Old Kindergarten
Our program includes:
- Immersive numeracy & literacy sessions through small group activities
- Playground to Plate® Food Garden Program, where children grow and cook their own food
- Interactive cooking classes to encourage healthy eating habits
- ELLA (Early Learning Languages Australia) Mandarin Program, where children engage in a digital, play-based language learning experience
- Community outings, including visits to the local library, parks, gardens, and small businesses
To enroll in 4-year-old kindergarten, your child must turn 4 years old by April 30 of the year they attend.
At Bayswater Childcare and Kinder, our kindergarten programs lay the foundation for lifelong learning, curiosity, and social confidence, ensuring a seamless transition to primary school.
